Bushwalk

Bushwalk

Their class is split into groups and the teacher Mr B becomes unconscious, Mele asks to run to get another group for some help but ty said “We’ve already someone hurt and we don’t want someone lost.” They all put their jackets over Mr B and put him in the recovery position.

Rabbit Report

Rabbit
Rabbit are nocturnal and diurnal animals and live underground in burrows.

Habitat
Wild rabbits inhabit in holes called burrows and if you see a group of burrows it's called a warren. Rabbit make burrows in forests, paddocks, deserts and wetlands. They dig these burrows to hide from predators and to raise their babies. The burrow is also used to keep the rabbit warm in winter and cool in summer. Some breeds like the cottontail live above ground in nests and use long grass and bushes to hide in for protection.

Appearance
There are many different types of rabbit such as Deilenaar, Mini satin, Oryctolagus, Satin, Pygmy and many more. Rabbit come in many weights ranging from 0.4-2 kgs. The main colours for rabbit are brown, chocolate, white, black and tan. Every breed of rabbit have distinct features.

Lifecycle
Rabbit are helpless babies until 4-5 weeks, once then they are self-sufficient. Once they are 2-3 months they can have babies for themselfs. A rabbit's lifespan is 9-12 years. Rabbit can have 1-14 babies at once! A rabbit doesn't lay eggs it has live babies.

Diet
In warm weather a rabbit will eat weeds, grass, flowers, vegetables and conifer needles. In cold weather a rabbit will eat twigs, buds, bark, conifer needles and remaining green plants. A rabbit's predators are dogs, cats (wild and domestic) and hawks.

Features

Rabbit's use their whiskers to gaze the size of the hole because most rabbit's whiskers are the size of their body. A rabbit will twitch it's nose so it can smell things that human can hardly smell. Although a rabbit's eyes are placed on the side of it's skull it can still easily see, for a rabbit they can just about see a full 360 degree view! A rabbit has big ears for hyper-hearing but some breeds of rabbit like the lop eared rabbit don't have as good hearing
