Fast food should NOT be free

Fast food should NOT be free


“Make fast food free please” is something most people would say but NOO, FAST FOOD SHOULD
NOT BE FREE.  I’m writing this right now to say why we should have fast food for free.


Fatness
Fast food and overeating, one of the main causes for obesity.  Picture this a world where you can
practically get free food, unhealthy free food.  If we had free fast food then the world would be obese
as heck. The average weight of a standard adult is 62kgs and if we had “free food” then that weight
would probably average 90kgs.


Payment
Minimum wage, yep.  Free fast food would leave many issues for payment.  Currently fast food
workers get an average of $13.20 per hour and also get one of the lowest paying jobs out there.  
If for some reason fast food was free then workers would end up unable to make money. After free fast
food many workers would quit due to lack of payment.


Queuing
Lines, any normal person's nightmare.  Queuing kohua (sucks) like say you're waiting for free fast food,
just imagine that line it would be out the door around the block.  Currently fast food doesn’t take that long
except for the length of time it takes to cook and prepare the food. Now that you’ve got the free food
queues will SUCK.


Conclusion

Now I think we can agree that FAST FOOD SHOULD NOT BE FREE!!!  Now even if they do have free
fast food it would be the most impractical thing in fast food actually human history.

Paper plane test

Paper plane test

This test was the paper plane test where we took an average paper plane and attached a balloon to the top.  We took some trials to see what would happen with different designs.

Hypothesis
My thoughts of this test were the plane would take pickup height if the balloon was at the front and vise versa.

Materials
Paper plane
Tape
Balloon

Procedure
  1. Make a standard paper plane.
  2. After concluding these instructions add a tape loop to the top of the plane making sure it is double sided (sticky part on the outside).
  3. Finally apply an inflated balloon to the upper side of the tape making sure the balloon is held shut.
  4. Let er fly.

Results
Our trials led to many results and challenged my hypothesis hugely.  I thought the higher of the strength would be lower quality which was completely wrong.  After trialing I found out the higher strength meant the more chance of fetching lift and weaker equaled it to cut height.  The test went the exact opposite of my original thought. My reasoning was the lighter throw would cause wind to lift or do something with it.  The heavier throw would cut through the wind and go down which was WRONG!!

Conclusion

After concluding this test we found out the reasoning of the plane flying is because the balloons air is being rapidly thrown from the balloon propelling the plane forwards.  Overall this trial was fun and had amazing results.

Kia ora
My name is Riley Burgiss.  I am writing to tell you how wonderful it really is here in Aotearoa.

I really hope you have a good time here in Aotearoa.  There are many special things about New Zealand like the rich earth and green grass.  We also have a special bird native to our specific country. It is the Kiwi. It is a nocturnal flightless bird that has nostrils at the end of their beaks.  They also lay eggs ⅓ the size of their body weight.

We have beautiful sceneries in New Zealand take for example Rotorua's giant boiling mud pools.  If you fell in the mud would dissolve your skin into nothingness. There is also a story that goes as a guy was in a police chase.  He was sprinting straight down to the huge pool onto the bridge and committed suicide. He jumped the railing into the pools and no one ever found the body, well at least what my dad said.  But there are other places like sunrise hut up at Ruahine Ranges. I and room 14 / 15, 16 / 17, 18 / 19 conquered the mountain with amazing views.

Around here in New Zealand, we love rugby, soccer, cricket, T ball, pretty much all sports.  Some of our kiwi favourites are hokey pokey which is vanilla ice cream with crunchy lollies. We also like mixes from the dairy and just a classic fish and chips.

Kia ora, tēna koā and many others are greetings we use to invite other cultures.  In school, we do performances that are representing other countries like in week 5 term 2. Me, and the year 6 boys celebrated Samoan language week with a sasa based on the triple A’s.

Anyway, welcome to Aotearoa.  You're gonna fit right in with everyone else.  Hope you have a good stay.

We started rolling as soon as I had reached the front.  There were tonnes of cool things like glowing tunnels, murals and a train bypass.  Finally, we reached the end and left.

EXPLODED MOMENT!!!!

Gripping the faded handle on the pole, the driver entered.  Reaching the control panel he was ready. Removing the handbrake from position the train began sliding down the rails.  We were rolling through what felt like blindness. Pitch black in midday until the opening. “Sunlight,” screamed Isabelle (my cousin) as we pulled out into the graffitied walls.  Now we could see millions of gang signs which was instantly swapped into a giant tunnel lit by light which is the only description I can give. Lights upon lights upon lights. It was the exact opposite of the other tunnels.  Black to bright. We were leaving the tunnel and my eyes had picked up on an oncoming carriage.

We came head on and dodged the collision with extra track causing a bypass.  Everyone was waving and screaming while running to the back. From where I was, I couldn’t see everyone but the back six or seven rows could see straight through the returning car.  Taking the thought of traveling back a few rows but there were other kids that would have gladly removed me from my position. The carriage was what felt to be stuck. Hauling out of place the car picked up speed with about 3 km/h.  Just up ahead was the giant tunnels again but this time there were, yep another bunch of lights. Instead of description less bright flickers they could be described as that but colour changing. I couldn’t stand the screaming kids, even my brother was in on the noise!   We exited the tunnel and came to a screeching halt. *Opening doors* “TTttffff,” the doors were opened and we were off at Central Wellington.

Trotting through the curtains I made it to the stage.  Everyone was already cheering and clapping like no one was there.  Pushing past the final curtain people were staring, eyeing us down.  The feeling I had just had no description.

Making the stage instantaneously made sickness in my guts.  Jimmy, Jake and Seu began their speeches. “Afio mai, welcome to the senior pacific group,” said Jake. After the speeches the school waiata began.  “Heretaunga Ararau, Heretaunga Hukanui,” everyone sang in unison. My guts had unravelled just to knot themself back up again ready for the slap dance.  After making the decision not to do the slap dance I quickly found myself performing on the dance.

Tasi, Lua, Tolu, Fa,” shouted Isaac setting the rest of the dance in motion.  We all began from the beginning and off to the meer end. “Heeee,” we shouted as the crowd began cheering, “WOOOOOOOO *clapping*.”  Beginning to jog on the spot the drum started playing. Making our way slowly back my heel whacked against the step and “ah!” “Sssshhhhh,” everyone began trying to hush the noise but just amplified it.  Moving on back still everyone finally hushed and the girls created a barrier from us to the audience. Music filled the room room breaking mass silence. “Aue aue, Nuku I mua and when it’s time to find home we know the way,” began the song.  Throughout the dance there was chatter from both sides mainly the stage side. Coming to an end on the girls dance it was the boys dance, Lomi lomi. I dreaded this moment hoping it wouldn’t come but …

Music was playing you get the idea, awkward.  We basically had to pretend to wash each other is the dance in a nutshell, just awkward.  “Huh disco fever!” shouted some little 6 year olds out in the crowd. After the final claps we finished off the dance, coming to the end of the performance, it was only minutes away.  Dudududududududu, the drum had made a return and the sasa was seconds from beginning. “Lalo,” Jeff shouted putting the group on the ground ready for motion. “Tulolo, Nofo, Tulolo Nofo.”  We were off and prepared to finish the pacific performance. “John cena, YOU CAN’T SEE ME, Lue. 1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4 everyone had stuck in their heads for timing. We finally neared the absolute end and that was it.  Finally the Sasa ended an, “ewatangie, e tangi tangi tangi e ewatangie,” we all began and the dress rehearsal was over.

OPTIONAL CROSS COUNTRY

OPTIONAL CROSS COUNTRY


It is here- WHY?!  Cross country, it is even boring than boring and more annoying than annoying, I don’t even have words to describe it.  Every year there is one day that I hate because many reasons. I reckon that we should be able to choose whether we want to compete in cross country.

Unfairity
During my years at school there has been one thing that I hate more than anything, Cross Country!  One reason I hate Cross country is because unfairity. I reckon cross country is completely unfair.  Imagine you aren’t the fittest of the bunch and you're facing Usain Bolt when he was a kid. This sparked the idea of competitive and uncompetitive cross country.  You can select between the two options thus stopping most anger about the reihi (races).

Uncomfortableness
The stitch, a completely uncomfortable feeling no matter where you get it, left right, top, bottom it hurts.  I think that cross country should be 100% optional. We are currently being forced to do a boring run that doesn’t teach us anything, WE ARE AT SCHOOL!!!!!!  One out of four kids don’t like cross country and I think three quarters of those kids don’t like it because the stitch, IT IS UNCOMFORTABLE.

Optional Cross Country
I HATE cross country, it's boring uncomfortable, unfair and forced.  Cross country should be optional, I mean that list could go on and on so I think we should have to options, competitive and casual.  I wrote about this a little in another paragraph but I’ll give an in depth tour of the options. The casual would be for people who aren’t as fit.  It would also not have a intercity reihi and would just be the one. Next is the competitive reihi. These reihi would be pretty much the exact same as now just only confident people.  Take back to when I mentioned Usain Bolt vs an unfit kid. This choice would stop anger of the unfit kid. Finally I had one more option, ya don’t have to compete. I think this would leave less people in the reihi but also leave less anger about the reihi.

Conclusion

Unfairity, uncomfortableness, boredom heck this solves it all.  After this I think it is safe to say that the choices will stop anger in most kids for cross country and it is also safe to say I don’t really like cross country.

What have I learnt this term
  1. Strategies - New strategies have helped me solve many questions that before would have been a lot harder like 63 x 39 = ____
A strategy you could use is box mult (iplication).


      2. Mistakes - Mistakes seem terrible at first but they actually help the brain grow.  Scientists have proven that mistakes make your brain grow more than getting stuff right.

      3. Sharing ideas - Work together, everything will be easy.  Two brains are a lot better than one. In most cases groups learn more than singularly placed people.

      4. Growth mindset - Keep a growth mindset for everything, you’ll achieve more.  A growth mindset is when you try new things and keep improving. Don’t keep a fixed mindset!

      5. Pi - 3.14159265359 a.k.a the best food ever a.k.a the circumference of a circle a.k.a 3 and a bit.

      6. Math people - Everyone is a math person.  Scientists have proven the brain is pretty much plastic or rubber

How I have adapted new ideas into my learning
  1. Response - Response can be adapted to all positions in learning, literacy, art, P.E, all sorts.

      2. Mistakes - Mistakes actually help and again in all positions of learning.  It’ll help your brain grow in many different places.

      3. Sharing ideas - Again this will help in all positions but everyone uses this one in literacy but consider it stealing ideas.

🎣The big Catch🦊

One lone summer morning down by the lake, Tyrone was fishing.  Boredom had struck hours upon hours ago, maybe even days ago (at least what it felt).  Heavy tugs were made on the rod. Tyrone grabbed the rod and heaved the fish out of the lake.  Retrieving it from the hook he gasped in shock, it was … tiny. Tossing it into the kete he felt disappointed, he had to feed the whole tribe with a 2mm long fish (actually about 5cm long).
There it was “nnnhhh, nnnhhh,” (high pitch).

Slowly climbing through the bushes Tyrone had found a fox.  Prepared to stab the beast he decided to free it from the ankle trap that had caught him.  Slowly releasing him, the fox leaped into battle stance ready for a fight. It was angered, ready to remove the skin of someone's face.  It attacked and clinged to his chest ready for food.
“Sniff, Sniff,” a scent whisked by luring the fox away.

Tyrone followed through the bushes and found the fox at the kete.  Trying to scare it off he thought to himself, “If I don't have the fish my dad will kill me.”
The beast whipped the fish from the basket and leaped out of sight.  Beginning to chase along he gained sight of the target. He ended face to thorn with a giant bush.  The fox had already escaped through the tunnel. He turned back to the tribe but thought again about the food.  He had only made his mind up halfway through the bush. He stumbled through the other end and got his foot caught.  He tugged and eventually popped it out.

In aching pain he jumped onto the foxes hiding log and scanned for the orange dog.  It was haere, gone. Then out of nowhere, the fox jumped out of the top and scorpioned the kid into the ground. Getting up with the taste of dirt and worms he carried on through the bushes.  Running through bushes, climbing on trees, swinging on vines, he was determined to kill the fox for the fish. Catching the fox he dived on top of him locking him in position. The fox was curled into a ball unable to escape.  Finally the fox reached out from the boys chubby build and began climbing the hill.

“Uhh huuhu uhh,” hours upon hours of climbing and it had only just reached the clouds and the top.  Sprinting over to the edge there he was, the fox. The fox still had the fish but not for long, he threw it off the cliff.  The mountain started shivering and the clouds began to clear. The side of the cliff where the fox tossed the fish turned out to be a ginormous lake.  Tyrone was speechless at the masterpiece of the foodfull lake but that wasn’t even the best part, there was a massive Magikarp (useless water pokemon) in the lake.  The fox came and obtained his attention with a stick. Tyrone grabbed it and snapped the twig from the stick. Tying a rope n hook around it he cast it into the lake and waited and waited and waited.  Finally the fish was caught and the tribe was now known to be fed

Heading back for the village Tyrone dropped another small catch into the fox's mouth.  It was then when the fox stayed. Tyrone carried on not realizing but then, the fox turned to his … spirit animal.

My story

My story

My almighty quest began in the hospital just down the road, Hastings hospital.  I was born two days before Christmas so we ended up having Christmas in the hospital.  I soon moved into my new whare with the best neighbours. Back then I was at school or outdoors but that’s changed since then.

The lovely people throughout my blood consist of many different races like Irish, English, Pakeha, Māori.  I have many uncles, aunts, brothers, cousins, all sorts. but I can only cover a few like my main family. First is my lovely mum Lisa who married my dad Paul.  She is a chocolate lover, she’s always there and overall she’s an amazing mum. Next is my dad, he is a rugby coach, canoe polo coach, the parts manager at Deakin motors, coach at barefoot sevens, demolition derby star and many more.  Next are my lazy brothers Sean who’s 8, Tyler who’s 6 and Max who’s 3.

Over the years I’ve gathered many things important to me (no particular order) like rugby, writing, math, family and art.  Rugby is big for me since I have played since I was five. My team has evolved from the mighty rippers to the mighty predators to now, the vikings.  My writing hobby began about a year ago when I just found writing a lot more fun for reasons I don’t know. I also liked math but that came with me from years ago in actually my first year of school, room one, year one.  My family of course is important to me for many reasons. They’ve grown me to who I am now and protected me for years on end. And art, a big thing for me. It’s fun because it allows you to draw and put yourself in any situation.

Finally for my goals.  My goal is to finish set b, stage 7, advanced by the end of the year.  I believe that I can achieve this by coming to all the morning maths on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  I believe to achieve this by playing math games every night. By the end of this year, I hope to achieve stage seven and make stage eight.

Earth eyes, Dark hair, Maroon uniform this is Christian.  Petrifying, near death experiences. Unseeable
things he’s seen.  Sleepless. Everyday, bombs were dropped. His life was terrifying.  Wandering to
school, day by day, was a real struggle. The streets were warfield's.  They were traveling countries
upon countries such as Baghdad to Damascus to Lebanon to NZ.  Life was hectic.


It wasn’t until they reached NZ when his life turned around.  When he first arrived he was feeling as if he
was left out but about everyday he’d learn a new word.  It was until about 18 months later when he could
fully speak English and was like all the other kids.
“Hey, thanks for helping me with English Jake,” said Christian.
“No problemo,” replied Christian.
Once reaching NZ Christian felt happy.  Their family felt they just belonged. There was no more war or
people who searched cars.  It was a safe, non violent country. It used to be BOOOOM but now it’s just
the wind blowing and trees rustling.  Life really had turned around for them.


Baghdad, Christians hometown, one of the most deadly cities in the world.  Huge wars, Christian hated
thinking of people even living there.
“Mum will we ever go back to Baghdad or Syria?” asked Christian.
“No, I don’t think ever,” replied Kathreen (Christians mum).
“Will it ever be safe in Syria again mum?” Asked Christian.
“Maybe but I still don’t think we’ll go back,” Christian.

Syria and Baghdad were now extremely dangerous cities and we were never going back.  Now in New
Zealand we are safe, happy people who don’t get kept up at night. I still think my mum worries about
us a lot after what happened in Syria.  Now we can just go to get bread and not worry about a sniper
waiting to shoot.

“Lucas, here now.”  He starts running as the mortar bomb hits his old location.  “Thanks bro,” he says.
“We need to move back to base now!”
“Sir! Yes sir!”
“Let’s go!”  
We start retreating back to camp. Suddenly…
“MOVE, MOVE NOW LOGAN!” a voice hollers.  
We start running and I see something - IT WAS MY DAD.  
“I saw Barry.”
“What one, wait... Dad?”  Lucas asks.
“Yeah,” I reply.
“Isn’t he dead?”
“Yeah. I mean like a hallucination. But you know what just, just shut up and stop talking about him please,” I say as I start welling up with tears.

The backstory

It was a dark night when we were out on my 25th birthday.  I got a new car and to be exact it was a dodge, challenger, SRT8.  It was wrapped black with double white stripes. I was out with my mum, dad, brother and my dog Jack.  We were crossing the border back to North America. While crossing the border there was an attack. We got stuck in line and then, my parents were shot.  We just made it out and waited until the next day.

It was the day after the attack and we tried crossing the border again which this time was a success.  Soon after we found a sign that read accepting new recruits, U.S military in need. We decided to join so we could avenge our parents by taking down the Federation and killing Rico.

Boot camp
27/7/2013
We had the last of our records checked and then we were off to boot camp.  It was boring and really struggle heavy in the first few hours but we soon found some things to do in our spare time.  We would carve logs or sticks into weapons and then shank the training dummies. For our warm up we had to do 6 km runs around the meadow.  The trainers would pick on John a lot because he would cut corners on the runs and would prank the trainers extremely often.

U.S soldier

Boot camp ended a week ago and we were now official soldiers.  Big boots, heavy duty vests and huge guns. Lucas and I were soldiers out on the battlefield with submachine guns.  I was extremely nervous out on the battlefield seeing millions of dead bodies around me with brains, blood and other organs flowing out.  I retreated out to the barracks and then accidentally shot Lucas in the left leg. I thought he was an enemy but then he started screaming.  I couldn’t tell him, I just didn't have the guts. I started crying and then Lucas came over limping and told me he was shot. I helped him back to the hospital and then we had been sent on in quarter of an hour.  Back of to the barracks is where we were going but then a stealth chopper came and collected us. We started screaming at them until one of the guys took his mask off and said, “You’re a Crypto now.”

You’re a Crypto now,” said the guy.
At this point we were still screaming but then he told us that the federation were planning to take over the world.  We already knew this but we still asked questions about it. He told me a quote that I’ll never forget, Life as a U.S soldier is hard but life as Crypto is even harder.  We’d be flying planes and helicopters as suppliers for the beginning but soon it would be out on the battlefield with all guns blazing. He even told us that we would soon be infiltrating enemy camps, warehouses and bases.

“Logan, logan,” Lucas screams.
My breath was taken and I didn't reply with what he was holding.
He shouts again, “It is my new headset that is just like the old one but with 60x zoom and night vision but now it also has, (takes deep breath) heat vision for smoke bombs.”
“When did this arrive,” I ask.
Than he responds, “Today it just got dropped off from the factory.”
Then the commander came and it was a long talk, “The federation had just started attacking panama leading out to the U.S.A and the fed are also setting off North Korea's nuke supply and where do you think huh, take a guess oh wait gotta be here because earth is taken over by the fed and America are the only ones left, you guys need to go out there with your dog Jack, Ben Jackson and Hesh Leaoki”  Finally we get to talk and all that is said is, “Ok, Ok.”

“Lucas you take out top left, Logan you take out the left guard buy the entrance, I’ll take out the right one and Hesh, top right guard.  On three 1, 2, 3.” Said Ben
North Korea sucks, it’s just snow everywhere,”  I said
“Shush, now we need to move those bodies by the entrance,” said Ben, “Then jack the next vehicle so we can enter.”
We begin dragging the bodies into the guards office as some guys try exiting.  Luckily they didn't see us so we ran back out with bright red faces and … “People exiting, positions, gyeognabgo-e taewoda jullae?” (Korean for “Could you give us a ride to the hangar”)  “mwoya, geuge haeg gyeognabgo ya?”  (Korean for “What one, is it the nuke hangar?”)
“Just give the damn car.”  Screams Hesh as we all shoot them.
“Stick to the plan guys, all we need to do is hack the nukes launch code and then get back the car to leave otherwise if it doesn’t work we you guys protect me while I hack it then we fight it out, got it,” explains Ben.
“Ok just drive, go,” says Hesh as I step down on the pedal.

The sun raced up as fast as a f1 race car on a straight.  It was really bright outdoors but our breaths still made huge smoke trails.  The snow was terrible because we first of all didn't have the time to get snow tires and we didn't have a roof on the jeep so the snow was everywhere. Once we entered we began driving to the drop off point.
“This is gonna be a long drive,” says Lucas, “Are we nearly at the drop off.”
“Shush, one false move and we are dead.”
We carried on driving and there it was, the drop off point.  We got out and grabbed the duffle bags from the back. Walking into the vault like door there it was the security check.  The dog's started barking.
“Pick up the pace guys,” I command.
Jogging down the stairs to the room all the scientists were working so we pulled the machine gun out and they were fleeing like pigs that were about to become bacon.
“Move now, they’ll have backup on us already coming,” says ben.
“Unload the equipment onto the command table while I, get the guns out now there coming.” Says Ben
“I’ll get sticky bombs.”  Yells Lucas but the gunfire blocks out his voice.
It was a long wait for the virus to be uploaded and ready for use.
Around 5 minutes later we had the virus uploaded and we were off.
“Get your night vision on because lights are out.”  Says Ben as I knock out the lights.
“We got the virus up and on sir and leaving the drop off now,”  Says ben to the sergeant.
We exited the base and suddenly the sky turned black.
“Stand down!” yells one of the guards as they begin shooting us.
“Shoot, Hesh now, SHOOT.”  Screams Ben.
I end up in driver again and end up escaping the jeeps but then some other vehicles came.  They had snowmobiles chasing us down like dogs herding sheep back to their paddock.
We made it to the pick up point where we were supposed to be picked up and oh my god.
“Get to the sub.”  Screamed commander Bill.
We all hop in as the sub crushes the front of the ice land into a thin layer of water.
“Sir we have gathered intell on the fed's plans, their next attack is on South America.”  Says Ben.
“Then we need all we got, get in contact with everyone and tell them to prepare,” Commander Bill explains.
“Even the final carrier,” asks Hesh.
Then Bill replies, “It’s all or nothing.”

“Max get the guns, were sinking this ship,” I yell.
“Shoot now, we got this,” screams Max.
The sky was dark just like it had been for the past few days.  Dark sky, foggy seas, we could barely see the other ships. It was like a horror movie or a fiction story.  It was only the second day of the fight and we were clearly losing, air supports down, escape boats blown and damaged engines.  Then all of a sudden…
“WE SUNK RICO’S SHIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”  Screamed some guy manning the machine guns. We somehow started the ship back up and moved closer to shoot him.  The sky started clearing but however there was still a lot of lightning. The oceans were covered with blood and scrap but it was over, the war had ended.  Years of fighting, over.

Crypto day

It was the 21st of september and it was also now known as Crypto day.  The day where all the soldiers who went to war are now remembered. We had a whole new anthem and many things such as movies, books, tv shows and many more all about us.  It felt good to be the centre of the focus and the main everything.
